Peter Gonda (a.k.a. gnd)

A theatre director, audiovisual provocateur, VJ, radio presenter, computer scientist and Pure Data maniac. During his studies of Applied Computer Sciences (2007) and Cognitive Sciences at Comenius University in Bratislava (2009) he became infatuated with the mother of Slovak underground radios - the student internet radio, where he later became the editor-in-chief. Besides his visual work, gnd holds a MA from theatre direction from the DAMU Theatre Academy in Prague (2018).

He has directed the theatrical spectacles Naggnaggg (2011), Endgame (2012), Sarajewo (2013), Neklid (2014), Peklo je taky jenom sauna (2015), Posledný případ Detektíva Konečníka (2015), Sión (2016), Rilato (2017). ) i ATISMIA (2018), often working with non-actors or mixed ensembles of professional actors and non-actors. Apart from performing solo, gnd is also a member of Kolektiv - a loose improvisational/live-coding body of creators of algorithmic music and visuals based in Prague, as a part of which he live-codes his visualization in environments such as Pure Data or GLSL. His other projects include real-time video synthesis for experimental electronics projects Poo i 1/x (Daniel Tóth), working with Michal Cábe and Markét Cilečkov in the real-time remaking of the audiovisual works of Brion Gysin and W.S. Burroughs, and the development of Pure Data tools for the P.A.T. Theatre in Bratislava.

He is the co-founder of BURUNDI media lab (2004-05) and the Itchy Bit collective with Ana Filip and Michal Čudrnák (2005-). He worked as a presenter, than as editor-in-chief of the Tlis radio in Bratislava. From 2007 he helped to designed and develop the streaming archive for the Slovak Philharmonic Orchestra. From 2008, together with Dušan Barok, he is the administrator of the Sanchez streaming platform, affiliated with the Multiplace network. In 2009, with Lucia Udvardyova, he co-founded, an ongoing project dedicated to exploring underground music scenes of CEE countries, and later in 2013 co-started it’s sister tape label Baba Vanga, that releases experimentalel ectronica. He was born in Koszyce, lived in Bratislava, and moved to Prague in 2010.
